About Billy

I am not sure exactly what to type about myself but I guess I am just supposed to write about myself, my boxing, fitness, and why I am doing the tattoo advertisements and what not.

I grew up in California very poor, well, poor by American standards. Growing up I didn’t have hardly any clothing and the clothing I had all had holes in them so growing up in school I always got made fun of and beat up. I was the shy kid that everyone loved to pick on.

When I was around 12 years old my dad took me to the boxing gym.  At first I did horrible because I was so shy but as my confidence grew I started to do better and better and the kids didn’t beat me up anymore as they saw I could fight. When I turned 16 I moved to Anchorage Alaska with my dad.

I started doing a lot of running races  when I got to Anchorage mostly 5 k but some 10 running races also. I was winning most of the races I entered.  If I didn’t win, I would always come in the top 3.  To train for the running races I would run in sorel snow boots in the snow.  It got me in shape fast and when I wanted a really hard cardio workout I would add snowshoes on top of the sorel heavy snow boots.

I would try to emulate rocky from the rocky movies and run in the woods like rocky did when he was training for the Russian.  That was my favorite movie growing up.  I saw that movie hundreds of times.

After being in Alaska for about a year I found a boxing trainer named Daniel Choi he trained fighters at a gym here. I started to go there.  I trained for a while but I still had never had a boxing match yet. I didn’t have my first boxing match until I was 22.  I believe it was at a place called Thursdaynight fights.  It is toughman type boxing.  I won that fight and then I went to california not to long after that to see my mother who was sick.

While in california I had entered several toughman style boxing matches while I was there as well winning all of them.  I fought back in Anchorage a year after the first time I fought in alaska. I won that match as well.

Then in 2004, I donated a kidney to a friend who was sick. I entered a running race 2 weeks after donating a kidney not listening to the doctors orders of waiting 6 weeks before exercising hard.  I won coming from behind to win the 5k running race with a time of 16:30 against 500 other particapants.  There was a ton of blood dripping down my leg as I broke the stitches from the incision. I had to go to the hospital later that day for an infected incision.  They gave me antibiotics and cleaned it out.

I have fought 3 times since donating my kidney winnning them all. My record is 18 wins 0 losses. I don’t know if I am going to box again.  I love boxing and the excitement of being in the ring but I dont know if I want to risk possible brain damage down the road. Plus with only having one kidney its probably very much dangerous as the doctors told me to never box again after the surgery.  I still run running races a lot.

Right now I am focusing on family and helping people.  I donate blood whenever I can to help out.  Right now I have donated 14 gallons of blood. I really love to help people in need. I have a friend who has cirrhosis of the liver and am soon going to be tested to be a living liver donor for him. I also intend to run a 100 mile race I believe that race is in febuary. I will do the race if I am able to if I am recovered from donating my liver If I am able to donate my liver.

I am not sure if that’s what an about me page should contain or not, if you want any other information just ask.
